As Fr. Lewis offers a blessing for all graduates at Masses this weekend, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of our young people graduating from high school this year and assure them of the prayers and well wishes of our entire parish family. May they know God’s blessings in the months and years ahead as they go out into the world and seek ways to share their God-given gifts for the good of others. Our graduates are: Evan Amador ~ Madison Beatty ~ Nicholas Belay ~ Sarah Browning ~ Dylan Bunce ~ Kylee Bunce ~ Alex Castro ~ Sarah Daly ~ Zack Higgs ~ Caitlyn Lane ~ Brett Schreyer ~ Pearl Sutton ~ Kendall Wissman
BE Parish congratulates Mr. and Mrs. Nathan and Kristin Klakring, wed at St. Benedict Church May 22, the first couple in Caroline County to be married since the COVID quarantine and the first couple to be married before God and His Church in our parish this year. Pictured with parishioners Ron and Anne Diem, Kristin is the third generation of her family to marry at St. Benedict; her maternal grandparents, Bob & June Magrogan, were the first. We pray that Nathan and Kristin’s children will continue the tradition. Our prayers for a lifetime of Holy Matrimony for the bride and groom!
Earlier this month, the St. Joan of Arc Council Knights of Columbus organized efforts to collect donations from St. Benedict/St. Elizabeth Parishioners to assist the Little Sisters of the Poor with items needed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The items were recently delivered and the Little Sisters were very grateful. Thank you one and all for your donations and support! Vist our Photo Albums page for more pictures of the effort.
Please join us in congratulating Deacon Hal Jopp who was ordained as a permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Wilmington on May 10, 1980. Deacon Jopp is one of our parish treasures! Offer him your thanks and congratulations when you have the chance. We thank God every day for his ministry and presence among us here at St. Benedict/St. Elizabeth.
The month of May signals a deepened devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as Mother of God and as our spiritual Mother. We will crown Our Lady on Mother’s Day, May 10. Also, in celebration of Mother’s Day, we encourage you to use your weekly envelope to mail in your Mother’s Day Remembrances. You may also contact the parish office ([email protected] or 410-634-2253) to add your intentions. All mothers will be remembered at Mass on May 10.
All parishioners are invited to join Fr. Lewis, either virtually or in person, as the North Caroline Clergy participate in the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 7 at Noon by praying for law enforcement, medical professionals, churches and families and more on the grounds of Calvary Baptist Church 1120 Market Street, Denton, MD. The event is a “drive-in” event with social distancing rules in effect. You may also access the event on Facebook at Caroline County Concerts of Prayer. Fr. Lewis will be leading the prayer for families.
In a spirit of fun and in an effort to stay connected and share our care and love with one another during this time of quarantine and isolation, a group of parish volunteers has been busy painting rocks with messages and images of faith and inspiration. Watch your doorsteps and front porches - one may be arriving at your home soon!
