The physical environment for worship, praise and thanksgiving is important. The appearance, condition and function of the parish buildings and grounds must be well attended. This committee is responsible for our two churches, St. Benedict and St. Elizabeth, the Family Life Center and our two cemeteries: St. Elizabeth Cemetery (next to the church in Denton) and Holy Cross Cemetery (on Greensboro Road in Greensboro). The maintenance is performed by contractors and volunteers who form the Parish Workforce. There is an annual inspection made of all buildings and grounds each year to assess needs and aid in budget planning.

Brick Prayer Garden at St. Benedict Church
On Sunday, April 15, 2012, Fr. Hilary Rodgers dedicated a Brick Prayer Garden on the grounds of St. Benedict Church in Ridgely, MD. The garden path contains over 100 bricks engraved with memorial and honorary messages surrounding a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary which has stood on the church property for many decades. The brick garden was designed by parishioner, Angus Richardson, for his Eagle Scout project while he was a member of Boy Scout Troop #165. He was assisted in the project by Rex Landscaping of Denton, MD and numerous other parish and community volunteers.
With the purchase of an engraved brick, you can remember those who have died, honor special people in your life, or simply list your family's name. If you would like to purchase a brick or multiple bricks, please click herefor an order form. After completing the form, please return it to the parish office. You will be notified when your engraved bricks have been placed in the garden (the installation of bricks in specific areas is available upon request and availability of spaces).
