On Tuesday morning, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Puerto Rico, killing one man, causing dozens of buildings to be destroyed and leaving tens of thousands of people without power. For many residents of Puerto Rico, this is the third time they have been impacted by a natural disaster. Hurricane Maria hit the island two years ago and Hurricane George struck in 1998.
We pray for all our brothers and sisters who have been affected by this earthquake. We also pray for our first responders and rescue crews that are assisting in recovery efforts.
While the Diocese of Wilmington will not be taking a special collection to aid in recovery, if you would like to help, donations are being accepted by Catholic Charities USA at
catholiccharitiesusa.
